Great pub in a lovely location. Food was excellent. Service was perfect but the space we were in is very dark decorated which made it difficult to see anything due to low sunlight from window. Not the best colour scheme for eating.
Absolutely amazing place. Room was large, clean and had everything you would need. Pub/restaurant lovely little place. All staff friendly and attentative. Food was amazing.
We were heading north on the A1 and decided to stay at this wonderful pub. We were welcome to park our Motorhome in the spacious car park. We had a very tasty meal in the restaurant and all staff members for courteous and friendly. The menu was extensive and it was hard to choose but both our meals were delicious. We have booked in for breakfast tomorrow!!
Sunday lunch - well worth a 1/2 hour drive as excellent lunch and great service despite being very busy ( and can tell why!). Definitely doing something right and manages to be a locals pub and bistro. Good to chat with Steve too about the challenges in the trade and why so many get this wrong.
As a party of 20 adults staying for two nights the staff looked after us without fault. They were amazing considering how busy the bar and restaurant were. Special thanks to Franky and Mark for their exemplary service and smiles. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. We will definitely stay at Black Horse Inn again if we are in the area.

We have been here for food several times and never been disappointed. This time we decided to stay over while visiting family in nearby Northallerton. The food is always top class tasty, cooked to perfection and plenty of it. We had the Sunday lunch which was delicious. Breakfast the following morning had plenty of choice from continental(cereals, pastries etc) juices and a variety of cooked breakfasts. The staff are so friendly and polite, it is always busy when we have come here and the staff work extremely hard but they all have smiles on their faces. The room we stayed in was Kauto Star, it was so very cosy with a very country feel to it, spacious, the bed was super comfortable, a cosy seating area with coffee table. Tea coffee facilities, plenty of drawers and a wardrobe with dressing gowns and extra towels and bedding. A large parking area to the rear. I would highly recommend staying here or even just calling in for food, both food and stay was exceptional.
My daughter and I stayed in Dawn Run in the coach house, it had 1 very comfortable double bed and a separate bedroom with a single bed which was really set up for a child but my adult daughter loved it and said it was extremely comfortable, both rooms had tv and were lovely and warm, overall this was one of the most elegant and stylish rooms I have stayed in. Good sized bathroom, powerful shower, lovely and clean, bonus capsule coffee maker. We chose to eat in the restaurant, the staff were lvery helpful, plenty of gluten free options, we had a delicious meal, the only niggle being that the restaurant was a little dark. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Wonderful inn. Went with no expectations but we were absolutely delighted at the vibrancy and ambience of the place. It was a Monday in early February but the establishment's popularity is evident. Quirky, comfortable rooms and my husband nicked my Curly Wurly (a cute courtesy treat with the tea and coffee 'package') in the rooms. An iron/board -they've thought of everything and it's a young and enthusiastic staff with a 'can do' attitude. The chef sure knows how to cook up an inviting meal; great menu choice and value for money into the bargain. Will we return?.........I think you've read my mind!!
